Gebhard XIV. Von Querfurt (* between 1310 and 1320; † 1383 ) was the son of Bruno III. von Querfurt (* 1280) and Mathilde von Honstein (* 1285). Gebhard XIV. Was lord of the castle of Querfurt from 1356 to 1383. Together with his son Bruno V. von Querfurt, he transferred numerous income to the Reihnsdorf monastery .

The Tumba of Gebhard XIV. Von Querfurt

The tomb of Gebhard XIV can be found in the burial chapel (from the 14th century) of the castle church at Querfurt Castle . As a sculptural masterpiece, the tumba was made by Bohemian sculptors in the late 14th century. The inscription on the top plate of the tumba reads:

Anno domini m. ccc. LXXXIII in nocte S. Katerinae obiit gebeard nobilis Dominus in quernfurt cuius anima requiescat in pace / Amen. Qui augmentavit Dominium Quernfurdensium cum munitionibus & castris Supra Scriptis: / Primo cum castro & oppido Quernfurt; quod / fuerat alienatum a Dominio Quernfurdensi Pluribus annis. Quod reobtinavit cum filia Domini Burckardti Domini de Mansfeldt tandem eruit Castra subscipta Karsdorff, Alstedt, Scheidingen, Carpenaw, Steinburg, Voxstedt cum eorum / attinentiis. Insuper eruit multa alia bona Villas, Census, Decimas, dotavit Altaria, & dilexit Pacem tenens. Ideo eius Anima / requiescat cum Christo in coelis + Amen.
