The term regional freight forwarder refers to a supply structure within procurement logistics , in which deliveries are first collected in order to then be transported to the destination in one load.

The regional freight forwarder structure aims to concentrate individual consignments on means of transport. In this way, the number of vehicles required can be reduced and transport costs can be lowered. Scheduling is simplified and administrative processes are simplified (e.g. through standardized documents). The backflow of empty containers and packaging is also concentrated.

There are special requirements for regional freight forwarders. In particular, the internal organization must be tailored to this structure. This structure also requires a high degree of adherence to deadlines and fast delivery.
