Commemorative notes are special editions of banknotes that are intended to commemorate famous people or historical events . Commemorative notes should not be confused with ordinary banknotes, which also often have portraits of well-known people. In the case of commemorative notes, the date of issue is directly related to the event or the person who is to be honored with it. For example, in 1975 the USA issued a two-dollar banknote to mark its 200th anniversary. In contrast to commemorative stamps and commemorative coins , commemorative notes are very rarely issued.
