Danger zone planning
Under hazard mapping as part of is civil protection developed narrowing of zones respectively spatial areas understood with special risks to people. Areas of application are potential natural disasters as well as potential civilizational disasters (e.g. nuclear or chemical accidents).
Flood and avalanche hazards
- There are two important danger zone systems in Austria:
- Flood Zoning Austria (HORA), a complete modeling of flood risks in cooperation with weather models, was created from 2005 - today as eHORA including other natural hazards such as snowfall, storms, earthquakes, thunderstorms and hail, as a portal of natural hazard risks (Department BMLFUW / VII5)
- Danger zone plan for torrent and avalanche control (GZP / WLV), a compilation of the zones relevant for landslides, mudslides and similar hydrological-geodynamic phenomena as well as the avalanche-relevant zones, especially since 1975
Nuclear accidents
- Switzerland: Zoning in the vicinity of the nuclear power plants , created under the aegis of the Federal Commission for NBC Protection
