An occasional convulsion or opportunity seizure is a seizure that occurs under certain conditions without persistent dysfunction of the brain are made. In theory, it can occur in anyone. It is believed that around one in twenty people will have an occasional seizure at some point in their life. The actual epilepsy and secondary seizures, which are symptoms of a disease process in the brain (for example, a brain tumor ), must be strictly distinguished from the casual attack .
Possible triggers are internal or external factors that affect the brain, such as:
- Fever , see febrile seizure
- sleep deprivation
- excessive alcohol consumption
- as part of a withdrawal syndrome
- Electricity accident
- very strong flickering light
