Community Center Humboldtstrasse

The community center Humboldtstrasse was a Protestant community center in the Leverkusen district of Opladen . Today it is used as the community center of the Evangelical Free Church community in Opladen .

history

Due to the rapid population growth in Opladen at the beginning of the 20th century, a second parish office was set up in the "Opladener-Südstadt" (district of Humboldtstrasse). The youth home and kindergarten were opened in 1929, and the pastor was also resident there. It was not until 1954 that the foundation stone was laid for the Humboldtstrasse community center. The inauguration was in 1955.

When the growth of the community was reversed, the kindergarten in Humboldtstrasse ended in 1978. Due to decreasing income, the Humboldtstrasse parish hall was closed on June 28, 2009.

Since August 1st, 2011, the Evangelical Free Church in Opladen has been the new owner of the building. Church services will continue to be celebrated on Humboldtstrasse in the future.

The "Protestant church object with outbuildings and interior fittings" was also placed under monument protection in 2011.
