Joint committee for adhesive technology

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Joint Committee for Adhesive Bonding Technology (GAK) is a joint initiative of the non-profit research associations DECHEMA (Society for Chemical Technology and Biotechnology eV), Research Association for Welding and Allied Processes. V. of the DVS (German Association for Welding and Allied Processes ), FOSTA (Research Association for Steel Application) and iVTH (International Association for Technical Wood Issues eV) for the cross-sector and interdisciplinary evaluation of ideas for research projects.

Working method

Research centers submit their project ideas developed with industry and research associations in the form of short sketches on two annual dates. These are first pre-assessed via an internet portal by industry representatives from the sectors involved, then presented and discussed again in a committee meeting and finally prioritized by electing the industry representatives. As a rule, the project ideas are recommended to the top 50–70% of the vote distribution for further elaboration. The research associations involved allocate the recommended project ideas according to their statutory fields of work. A very large proportion of the project ideas rated positively are applied for and carried out in the form of joint industrial research projects via the Allianz Industrieforschung ( Working Group of Industrial Research Associations "Otto von Guericke" , AiF) as part of the SME funding of the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology ( BMWi ).

Transfer of results

The research results are transferred to companies in a variety of ways, but mainly through:

  • An annual colloquium “Joint Research in Adhesive Bonding Technology”, attended by 300 participants in 2011, with reports from current or recently completed projects. In addition to the joint adhesive technology committee, other research funding organizations with projects relating to adhesive technology are also involved in this colloquium.
  • A publicly and free of charge accessible database on ongoing and completed research projects in adhesive technology on the internet portal klebtechnik.org .
  • The research associations each have their own means of transferring results (series of publications, events, internet, professional training courses).
  • Advice to interested companies from the research centers.

history

In 2001, the research associations organized the first joint research in adhesive technology with cross-sector reports from the field of wood research in place of the iVTH, the German Society for Wood Research eV DGfH. The cross-sectoral aspects and issues that were very clear there led to the formation of the joint adhesive technology committee in 2005. After the insolvency of the DGfH in 2009, the iVTH was added as a new representative of the wood processing industries.
