Generational Justice Act

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Intergenerational Justice Act (Bundestag printed matter 16/3399) is a legislative initiative by over 100 young MPs from almost all parties on intergenerational justice . This calls for the inclusion of the sentence “The state must observe the principle of sustainability in its actions and protect the interests of future generations” as Article 20b of the Basic Law . Article 109, which adapts public budgets to economic requirements, should be amended accordingly.

The first reading of the draft took place in the 118th session of the sixteenth Bundestag on October 11, 2007. After several speeches by 13 MPs, the draft was referred to the committees, with the Legal Affairs Committee acting in the lead. At the end of the electoral term, the legislative procedure was done.
