Geneva guilders

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Geneva guilder is the old currency of Geneva . According to a report from 1827, 5000 Geneva guilders corresponded to the then value of 1600 to 1700 Swiss francs . This amount corresponded to the annual salary of the Geneva prison director at the time (with allowances, he achieved an annual salary of CHF 2000, "so that his office is considered that of a man of education"). The same report mentions that 4 Geneva guilders correspond to "approximately 13 Batzen ", which corresponds to the daily costs of a prisoner there.
