Geological Survey of Western Australia

The Geological Survey of Western Australia (GSWA) is the geoscientific agency of the Australian state of Western Australia . It is under the jurisdiction of the Department of Mines and Petroleum. The office is located in East Perth .

State activity in this sector began in the 1880s. The development of the West Australian gold fields played an important role. The agency has since been involved in geoscientific exploration work of all kinds in Western Australia. This includes work on regional geology , geochemistry , geophysics , geochronology and raw material deposits. In addition, the authority pursues goals in the areas of statistics, the support of public educational work and geotope protection .

The results of the GSWA are published in the form of reports, geoscientific maps, geological guides, individual scientific publications and popular scientific literature.
