Georg Oelinger

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Georg Oelinger lived in Germany in the 16th century (1487–1557). He was a pharmacist in Nuremberg and in 1553 published the "Magnarum Medicinae partium herbariae et zoographiae imagines". Oellnger drew and painted some of the watercolors that show botanical illustrations of plants, including tomatoes , which were not yet widespread in Europe.

He exchanged plants and seeds with the doctor and botanist Hieronymus Bock , as Bock mentioned several times in his herbal books. Georg Erasmus Oellinger from Nuremberg, who lived in the 17th century, appears to have been a son of Georg Oelinger.
