George's Cathedral (Hama)
The Cathedral of St. George or George's Cathedral ( Arabic كاتدرائية القديس جاورجيوس or كاتدرائية القديس جاورجيوس للروم الأرثوذكس الإنطاكية) is the cathedral of the Archdiocese of Hama of the Greek Orthodox Church in Hama in Syria .
Location
The cathedral stands southwest of the now undeveloped castle hill (قلعة حماة), around which the street "Um die Burg" (حول القلعة) around 40 m west of this side street going off to the west.
history
The church in its current form was completed in 1839.
architecture
St. George's Cathedral is made of light-colored stones. The east-facing church has a cruciform floor plan with round vaulted roofs and a dome with a cross in the middle, the drum of which has 16 arched windows. To the northwest on the street corner there is a stand-alone bell tower with a square cross-section, tapering in the form of a very slender step pyramid.

George's Cathedral in Hama is the cathedral church of the Archdiocese of Hama and its dependencies . Archbishop since March 30, 2017 and Metropolitan for Hama and Dependencies since July 7, 2017 is Nikolaus Baalbaki, who was born in Damascus in 1957 .
