Gerhard Daum Music Edition

ToneWork Records and the Gerhard Daum Music Edition (GDME) are foundations of the German musician and producer Gerhard Daum . Consisting of a label , a publisher and a music library , the focus is on the publication and provision of Daum's compositions . The composer's music has been used in films, television shows and video games , in both European and American productions.

history

In 1993 Gerhard Daum founded the GDME. From this point on, the publisher took care of the composer's rights. Based in Munich, Daum founded the ToneWork Records label there in 1995, which is exclusively responsible for the distribution of the composer's music. During Daum's time in Los Angeles , a music library was added, which was created in 2001.

The label, publisher and library represent Gerhard Daum exclusively. On the one hand, they secure the rights to Daum's compositions and, on the other hand, they allow the composer the greatest possible artistic freedom.

In 1996 he recorded the album Mental Voyager - Voiceland in Dolby Surround , an unusual approach to music at the time. The album received a 4-star rating in Rolling Stone in October of that year. There was also a collaboration with the Brandenburg Symphony Orchestra . Daum recorded the album Film Music Suites , released in 2017, together with the orchestra and reworked various works for film and television for the orchestra.

The GDME is an independent, international music library that provides media music that Gerhard Daum has composed and produced. The catalog offers music for film and TV, media productions and video games, compositions for solo instruments and orchestral productions. GDME produces commissioned works in its own studio in Berlin.

GDME works with various sales partners around the world. These include Nichion and Modoocom for the Asian market and, since 2010, Warner / Chappell PM for the American market.

In addition to his work in film and television, Daum has also produced several solo projects. These albums are released on ToneWork Records. In 2014 his debut album Mental Voyager - A Music Journey was re-released on his label.

On ToneWork Records, Daum also frequently works in collaborations with other musicians and ensembles. For example with the Chor des Bayerischen Rundfunks , the Cambridge Consort Voices, the Historical Ensemble Regensburg and in 2017 the Brandenburg Symphony Orchestra under Hannes Ferrand.

In December 2017, Daum's album Rural Renewal was number one on the Zone Music Reporter's airplay charts .
