Germanicus of Smyrna
Germanicus († 156 in Smyrna ) was a Christian martyr and saint .
Germanicus was a student of Polycarp of Smyrna and suffered a martyr's death together with ten fellow believers when he was thrown to eat wild animals in the arena, and he is said to have been a young man. His death is therefore dated soon after the martyrdom of Polycarp, which occurred around 155; In Stadler's Saint Lexicon, however, the martyrdom of Germanicus is dated to the year 166 or 168.
Germanicus is venerated as a saint. His feast day is January 19th .
