Gerontopsychiatric Specialist
A geriatric psychiatric specialist is a further qualified, already trained nurse who, within the framework of geriatric psychiatry , specializes in working with psychologically altered people, especially people who are confused with age . As a rule, this also requires extensive professional experience. In addition to care, the work includes employment, memory and orientation training with the people to be cared for. It is mainly about the care in inpatient facilities in the hospital or in nursing homes , such as the closed ward , the protected area or the dementia ward.
Nursing staff in this sense are curative educators , health and nursing staff and geriatric nurses . For this purpose, Baden-Württemberg has had separate training and examination regulations since 2001.
