Gerston was a whiskey distillery in Halkirk , Highland , Scotland .

The distillery was founded in 1792 by Francis Swanson near the town of Halkirk. It was owned by the family until it closed in 1882. Her story was largely uneventful. Your whiskey is said to have enjoyed an extremely good reputation.

Shortly after the closure of Gerston , the same family opened a new distillery not far away , which was called Gerston II . Andrew Maitland & Sons acted as architects . It was visited by Alfred Barnard in the mid-1880s, which is why a detailed description of the operation is available. The buildings are said to have represented a striking landmark. The distillery was built on a slope so that gravity could be used for transport between the individual process steps. The grain store and malt house were consequently located at the highest point, followed by a mill, mash tuns and stills in descending order . The distillery had an annual output of 80,000  gallons of alcohol but was designed to produce twice that volume at peak times. The distillery was founded in 1897 by Northern Distilleries Ltd. taken over and renamed Ben Morven . It was closed in 1911.
