Gerswind
Gerswind was a concubine of Charlemagne .
Gerswind is mentioned in Einhard's work Life of Charlemagne as "Gerswind, of Saxon family who gave birth to a daughter Adaltrud (...)". Nothing more is known about her.
According to the writer Gerd Treff, Gerswind is said to have been a daughter of the Saxon Duke Widukind . There is no evidence for this speculation. He also mentions Gerswind's year of birth “around 782” and the year of her death “around 829”, likewise unproven.
