Genital papilla

As Geschlechtspapille or genital papilla ( lat. Papilla "wart") refers to the genital opening with fish .

The genital opening lies directly in front of the anal fin on a slight "elevation" (papilla). The genital papilla is also known as the urogenital opening , as both sex products and urine are emptied from it. The sex papilla can be used to differentiate the sex of fish, whereby these are differently shaped and shaped depending on the type of fish.

Before the reproductive process begins, the papillae change color and change in some species. During the spawning season , the papilla in the female often changes and becomes a kind of tube.
