The Society for Ethnography e. V. (GfE) is a scientific association with the aim of promoting ethnography in research, teaching and social practice. It was founded in 1990 as a platform for the diverse ethnological departments and fields of practice. In addition to ethnology (ethnology), this includes European ethnology (folklore) and cultural studies in general (cultural studies).

The society is based at the Institute for European Ethnology at the Humboldt University in Berlin . The GfE fulfills its self- image as a transdisciplinary mediator in the context of conferences and specialist meetings and as co-editor of the ethnographic journal Berliner Blätter . In addition to its members, it also offers students a forum for the exchange and presentation of their own work.
