Society for the history of brewing

The Society for the History of Brewing eV (GGB) is a non-profit association for the promotion, research and documentation of the history of the international brewing industry based in Berlin .

history

The society was founded in 1913 as a society for the history and bibliography of the brewing industry . In 2006 the society had 300 members made up of institutions, companies and individuals. The member organizations include the German Brewers Association . The GGB is an associate member of the Brewery History Society .

Library

Former access to the Schultze Berndt Library

The GGB maintains the Schultze-Berndt Library in the main building of the brewery research and training institute with over 5000 volumes from the following areas:

  • Archeology treatises
  • Beer and health
  • Brewery dictionaries
  • Cartoons and humor
  • Festschriften from breweries and suppliers
  • history
  • Textbooks
  • Raw materials science
  • Technical treatises

Publications

Every year the GGB eV publishes the yearbook of the Society for the History of Brewing. V. ISSN  1860-8922 (old title 1928–2003: Yearbook of the Society for the History and Bibliography of Brewing eV ISSN  0072-422X ) with numerous technical articles on current research results and association activities. In addition, two bibliographies of the brewing industry have appeared since the GGB was founded .
