The Society for Orthopedic Traumatological Sports Medicine ( GOTS ) is the organization founded in 1986 for sports orthopedists and sports traumatologists from Germany, Austria and Switzerland with currently 1000 members (as of February 2011). It is currently the second largest association in the world in the field of sports orthopedics / sports traumatology. The president of the company is Victor Valderrabano ( Basel ).

The main focus of the organization's activities is the imparting of secured knowledge in the field of sports orthopedics and traumatology and the imparting of competitive medical knowledge .

The specialist organ is the journal Sport-Orthopädie - Sport-Traumatologie , which has been published since 1984, with 4 issues a year.

The GOTS holds annual congresses every year. The 26th annual congress took place on 17./18. June 2011 in Munich.

Every two years, GOTS awards the Michael Jäger Prize for innovations in the field of operations on the capsule-band apparatus. In addition, the title "Sports Doctor of the Year" is awarded annually.
