The Society for Pediatric Radiology e. V. (GPR) is a supranational medical-scientific society for diagnostics and therapy with imaging procedures in children and adolescents. It is based in Cologne.
Purpose of the association
The company's goals are in accordance with the Articles of Association of September 20, 2019
Promotion of diagnostics and therapy with imaging methods from extremely premature infants up to and including adolescence with special consideration of radiation protection. The prerequisite is quality assurance and standardization of the respective examination technique for the corresponding age groups.
Promotion of science and research, further education and training in all areas of pediatric radiology.
Close cooperation and corresponding exchange of experience with other national and international medical societies and medical organizations.
The GPR is intended to convey the current advances in diagnostics and therapy with imaging methods for children and adolescents to all colleagues who are interested in pediatric radiology. For this purpose, it regularly holds an annual scientific conference and advanced training courses.
History of Pediatric Radiology
1897 First installation of an X-ray device in a children's hospital in Europe at the Anna Children's Hospital in Graz
1903 First X-ray facility in a German children's clinic in the Charité Children's Clinic in Berlin
1963 Foundation of the working group for pediatric radiology in Cologne
1968 Official establishment of the Working Group for Pediatric Radiology eV with its own annual conference
1970 The name is changed to the Society for Pediatric Radiology , GPR
1987 Recognition of pediatric radiology as a sub-specialty of radiology at the German Medical Association
