Law of Amagat

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Amagat's Law states that if different gases (number ) with volumes , with the same pressure all (and the same temperature ) are mixed, the mixture at a volume

has the pressure ("ideal mixtures" of gases). The law is a consequence of the equation of state of ideal gases .

This law is named after Emile Hilaire Amagat (1841-1915), a French physicist and high-pressure expert who taught at the University of Lyon.
