Emmerich Schrenk's grave

Emmerich Schrenk learned his acting craft at the Max Reinhardt seminar in Vienna . This was followed by theater engagements on various stages in Vienna. In 1949 he made his film debut in the war film Duel mit dem Tod .
He achieved his acting breakthrough five years later with his role in the war film 08/15 . In the film adaptation of Hans Hellmut Kirst 's novel of the same name , Schrenk played Hauptwachtmeister Schulz , who, together with "Schleifer" Platzek ( Hans Christian Blech ), harassed the young recruits (played by Joachim Fuchsberger , Peter Carsten and Paul Bösiger ) with his aggressions and harassment while His wife ( Helen Vita ) puts horns on him in the official apartment.

After the considerable success of the film, Schrenk also played in the two sequels, 08/15 - In War and 08/15 - In the Homeland , whereby Schulz, who was finally promoted to captain, clearly gains in positive facets. In the period that followed, Schrenk was repeatedly associated with the run-of-the-mill skewer, although he rarely appeared in war dramas. He also played in homeland films such as Wo der Wildbach rushes , Der Orgelbauer von St. Marien and Der Poacher vom Silberwald (with Rudolf Lenz ), horror films such as The Curse of the Green Eyes (with Adrian Hoven ) and the multi-part historical drama Der Winter, der a summer was based on the novel by Sandra Paretti . In Barras today he played one last time alongside his 08/15 colleagues Joachim Fuchsberger and Peter Carsten. In the 1970s he largely withdrew from film. He had one last appearance in 1982 alongside Lukas Resetarits in the popular Austrian crime series Kottan .

In addition, from 1979 to 1982 he played the bailiff at the Jedermann performances at the Salzburg Festival .

Emmerich Schrenk died of heart failure in his hometown of Vienna.

His grave is on the Döblinger Friedhof (group 31, row 8, number 5) in Vienna.
