Faces of the Night is a crime novel by Jack Higgins , the original edition of which was first published in 1961 under the title The Thousand Faces of Night and which was translated into German by Götz Pommer.

Hugh Marlowe is released from prison after 5 years. He is the only one of the former Faulkner gang who was caught after a robbery, but he alone knows where the stolen 20,000 pounds are hidden. Not only the police are after the money, but also his former gang. Marlow first settles in the country in the direction of Birmingham and finds shelter with the farmer Magellan and a job as a truck driver. However, he does not come to rest there at first. A wholesale company in the neighboring small town is trying to force the farmer out of the market with dubious practices. Marlowe finds out details about the dealings of the wholesale company and supports the farmer as far as possible, but Faulkner and the police soon get wind of the matter. A showdown then takes place in a lonely mill in the forest.
