GetYourGuide is a website where tourists can book activities such as tours and excursions, and book sightseeing tickets . GetYourGuide currently offers more than 30,000 products in around 8,000 travel destinations around the world, making it the world's largest online booking platform for tours and leisure activities.

Third-party providers can place promotional offers. Companies offer sightseeing , sports and adventure activities, multi-day tours, tickets and other products and can upload and manage them under their own brand. Customers can book these products directly on the website or via iOS and Android apps as well as through our own sales network with around 1,500 online travel agencies and tour operators . GetYourGuide receives a market-dependent commission for bookings.

Company history

The website is run by the Swiss startup GetYourGuide AG, founded in 2008 by Johannes Reck and Tao Tao . It employs around 100 people at its main location in Berlin and has two additional offices in Las Vegas and Zurich . In April 2013 GetYourGuide acquired the competing website “Gidsy”. GetYourGuide cooperates with other websites such as TripAdvisor and Expedia . The company has two main competitors in its market, "Viator" and the US start-up company "Peek.com". According to its own information, GetYourGuide has so far acquired almost $ 100 million in capital, but has not yet been profitable in any financial year.

In 2017, GetYourGuide received an additional $ 75 million from previous investors KKR, Spark, Highland Capital Partners, Nokia Growth Partners and Sunstone Capital.

In May 2019, it will be announced that GetYourGuide has received $ 484 million in funding from Softbank , Lakestar, Heartcore Capital and the Singapore sovereign wealth fund Temasek .
