The Dreimännige Tännel or Stiel-Tännel ( Elatine triandra ), also called Drestaubblättriger Tännel or Kreuz-Tännel , is a species of the genus Elatine within the family of the Tännelgewächse (Elatinaceae). It thrives in the northern hemisphere in Eurasia and in North America in stagnant waters .

The three-man Tännel is an annual herbaceous plant . The 2 to 15 centimeters long, creeping stem forms roots at the nodes . The leaves are divided into a petiole and a leaf blade. The petiole is at most as long as the blade, usually shorter. The leaf blade is elliptical to ovate-elongated and barely noticeably notched.

Flowering time is from June to September. The threefold flowers usually do not open and are sessile like the fruits. The chalice in two parts. The three petals are pink or white and as long as the calyx. There are three stamens . The seeds are slightly curved and have no longitudinal ribs.

The number of chromosomes is 2n = 36.

Occurrence

The three-man Tännel distributed in the northern hemisphere in Eurasia and North America . The Dreimännnige Tännel is circumpolar , its northern border is 68 ° north latitude. It has a very fragmented area . Distribution centers in Europe are in southeastern Central Europe , in southern Sweden and in southern Finland . In Central Europe, it occurs very rarely in the lowlands , in the Upper Rhine region , in Hesse , in northern and eastern Bavaria , in the Alpine foothills as well as in Upper and Lower Austria , in Styria , in Burgenland and at the foot of the Alps .

The three-man Tännel thrives best on lime-poor , humus-rich and nutrient-rich , sandy, slaggy or muddy soils . It inhabits shallow water zones on the banks of ponds and ponds , it rarely grows on the bank areas near the water level. The three-man tank is in decline wherever ponds are not regularly drained in autumn. In Central Europe it is a Cyperetalia fusci-order character.
