Getmobile ( spelling : getmobile ) was an online shop for mobile phones with headquarters in Munich. There was a branch in Trier.

history

Getmobile AG was founded in 1999 by Tim Schwenke and Daniel Wild, initially as an online shop. In 2005 the IPO on the Alternative Investment Market (AIM) of the London Stock Exchange took place in the form of a reverse takeover , through which getmobile AG became a 100% stake in getmobile europe plc based in London. Since November 2008, the share has also been admitted to trading on the Entry Standard of the Frankfurt Stock Exchange . With effect from December 31, 2009 getmobile europe plc parted with the mobile communications business by selling it to wap-telecom GmbH.

Since January 1st, 2010 getmobile has continued the mobile communications business as a GmbH under the new managing directors Stefan Schmidt, Andreas Schmidt and Frank J. Demmer. The core business now concentrated on pure mobile communications products such as smartphones and tablets with appropriate contracts from all network operators and the provider mobilcom-debitel . There were also branches in Munich and Trier. Frank Demmer left the management team on September 1, 2014. Jan Konietzko became the new managing director.

criticism

In the period from 2001 to 2009 getmobile AG was active in two main areas of business, on the one hand the operation of an online mobile radio shop and on the other hand as a service provider for larger companies in the TV shopping area . During this period, so-called bundles were increasingly marketed, in which customers had the opportunity to use the commission for the new conclusion of a mobile phone contract to subsidize other products such as notebooks and game consoles. In the middle of 2009 in particular, customer service was heavily denounced within this business model and led to reports on television.

Bankruptcy 2015

In autumn 2015, the company got into financial difficulties and filed for bankruptcy . With effect from September 11, 2015, an insolvency administrator was appointed.
