Hotel, Hospitality, Personal Service Union

The hotel, restaurant, and personal service union (HGPD) was a non-partisan interest group for employees founded in 1978 . She was a member unions of the Austrian Trade Union Federation .

The Personal Service Union and the Hospitality Workers Union merged on Tuesday 7 November 1978 to form the Hotel, Hospitality, Personal Service Union. The HGPD, the trade union of trade / transport / traffic and the union of railway workers merged on December 8, 2006 to form the new trade union vida . The number of members of the HGPD was last (May 2006) 47,322.

history

The HGPD saw itself as the successor to the hairdressers 'union founded in 1891 and the innkeepers' union founded in 1892.

After the founding of the Austrian Federation of Trade Unions in 1945, hairdressers with domestic workers, home helpers, housekeepers, staff in baths and health resorts and cleaners formed union 16: "Union of workers for personal services and amusement businesses".

When the two unions merged, AK Vice President Florian Mück was elected chairman of the Personal Service union and Franz Erwin Niemitz was elected central secretary.

In April 1983 the first regular trade union day of the HGPD took place. The number of members was 45,000 at the time. In 1987 the regular trade union day took place, when Niemitz Mück finally succeeded as chairman and Rudolf Kaske , until then youth secretary, was elected central secretary. Franz Erwin Niemitz was honorary chairman of the HGPD to this day
