The profit normative designated in the GDR a statistically-economic code that was used for long-term planning of the profits in the companies.

It should orient the companies, combines and VVB towards a steadily growing effectiveness corresponding to the respective conditions of the branch. A distinction was made between norms for the generation and those for the use of the profit. Normative for profit generation were indicators in which effectiveness requirements were fixed, for example the ratio between the profit to be generated and the advanced fund resources.

The normatives of the appropriation of profits included the normative for the production fund levy , net profit transfer (net profit transfer normative ) and bonus funds .
