Ghost site

The term ghost site refers to websites that are no longer maintained by the authors and are marked as such, but remain accessible. Gravesite was given as an alternative name . The term is not well established.

The term is derived from the ghost ship . As a rule, these pages are saved against digital oblivion or as a review and are clearly marked as out of date. They must therefore be distinguished from websites that can no longer be reached or found (as part of the deep web ).
