A Gießhaus was in the Baroque period a - - mostly state-owned or municipally run metal foundry was processed in the metal for military or civilian purposes. There were foundries in different places:

  • there was a council foundry in Lübeck ,
  • in Berlin the foundry was operated by the sovereign.
