Giovanni Arvedi

Giovanni Arvedi (* 1937 in Cremona ) is an Italian industrialist and owner of Acciaieria Arvedi SpA , which operates steelmaking plants in northern Italy.

Arvedi comes from a family that has been involved in steel production for a long time. He was instrumental in developing the ESP process for steel production, which means significant energy savings in the production of flat hot strip made of steel.

In 1963 Arvedi founded a company for the manufacture of steel pipes, followed by other production and sales companies in the steel industry. In 2007, the turnover of the four companies in the Arvedi Group was 1.353 million euros with an annual production of around 1.5 million tons.

Honors

  • In 1984 Giovanni Arvedi received the title of " Cavaliere del Lavoro ", the highest distinction for entrepreneurs, from the Italian President. In 2006 he was honored with a "Laurea honoris causa" (honorary doctorate) from l'Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore.
  • 2012 Giovanni Arvedi was the Carl Lueg Medal awarded.
