Gladstone suitcase
A Gladstone suitcase is a wide, fabricated on a rigid frame suitcase , which can be divided into two equal halves. Compared to other suitcases, the Gladstone is deeper in relation to its length. Gladstone cases are commonly made from stiff leather . It is named after the British Prime Minister William Ewart Gladstone (1809–1898), who was known for his love of travel.
history
The Gladstone suitcase was invented by JG Beard in his leather goods store in the City of Westminster in the mid-19th century . However, similar items of luggage with a hinge already existed in France.
