Glasair Aviation USA is an American manufacturer of aircraft kits from Arlington in Washington .

history

Tom Hamilton constructed the Glasair TD and founded the Stoddard-Hamilton Aircraft company in 1979. In 2001, Thomas W. Wathen founded Glasair Aviation by taking the Glasair assets from the bankruptcy estate of Stoddard-Hamilton Aircraft and all rights and assets of GlaStar bought from Arlington Aircraft Development. The two new companies New Glasair and New GlaStar will be marketed on behalf of Glasair Aviation. Over 3000 Glasair kits have been delivered worldwide.

In July 2012 the company was sold to the Chinese Jilin Hanxing Group, which renamed the company Glasair Aircraft USA. Jilin Hanxing indicated that he wanted to obtain a type certification for the Glastar and otherwise leave production in Arlington. Jilin Hanxing Group chairman TieJi Fang said the company should manufacture training aircraft for flight schools and private aircraft for the Chinese market. He explained that the acquisition of Glasair was "the first step in a very long journey".

Randy Lervold was appointed CEO on May 14, 2019 . Previously, Lervold was a member of the Board of Directors for Sales and Marketing at Dynon Avionics and General Manager of Cub Crafters .
