Glazing
A glazier is a craft business in which the profession of glazier is practiced. As a rule, a glazier has a warehouse in which the glass panes of various sizes and thicknesses are stored vertically or at a slight angle on so-called glass racks .
The cutting is done on the cutting table by means of a glass cutter , which has a hardened steel wheel at its tip and thus leaves a trace on the glass when the tool is pushed over the glass surface, usually along a rail. This creates a predetermined breaking point which, by applying pressure to this track, breaks the glass in two.
Traditionally, the pane is inserted into the window by means of the pin wire .
On June 30, 2013, there were 10,803 employees subject to social security contributions in glassworks in Germany.
