Glass fusing furnace

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A glass fusing furnace is designed for fusing glass of different colors and shapes. Glass fusing describes the glass melting technique that softens the glass to such an extent that individual parts made of glass are permanently connected. The word fusing is derived from the English verb to fuse , in English it means glass fusing.

In modern glass art, temperature-resistant parts made of other materials (metals, fiberglass) are also fused with the glass. The special fusing ovens reach temperatures of up to approx. 850 ° C. At temperatures of 690 to 780 ° C a partial, relief-like fusion and at the maximum temperature a complete fusion of the glasses in the furnace and possibly other elements is achieved.

Glass objects made with the glass fusing method are individual art objects such as costume jewelry, glass bowls, window or wall pictures, also works of art and artistically designed windows in architecture and interior design.
