The Gleislose Bahn Judenburg was one of the first trolleybus operators in Austria , then called Gleislose Bahn . The plant in the Styrian city of Judenburg was opened on December 10, 1910 and had to be closed again in 1914 due to the war .

route

The 1.9 kilometer long trackless railway connected the peripheral Judenburg train station ( 47 ° 10 ′ 25.7 ″  N , 14 ° 39 ′ 43.1 ″  E ). This is located at the Rudolfsbahn , from the city center across the Mur . The city-side final stop was on the edge of the main square at the Post-Stadl ( 47 ° 10 ′ 6.6 ″  N , 14 ° 39 ′ 40.2 ″  E ). The coach house was also located there . The route was operated daily from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., the travel time over the entire route was 20 minutes. In 1911 a one-way trip cost twelve cruisers .

vehicles

The Mercédès-Électrique-Stoll system was used for the Gleislose Bahn Judenburg, so the only existing wagon had - as is generally the case with this system - a contact wagon for power consumption and wheel hub motors . As a special feature of the Judenburger Wagen, both axles were driven. This was necessary, on the one hand, to cope with the maximum gradient of 15 percent without any problems and, on the other hand, to be able to carry the existing trailer during rush hour .
