GlobaLeaks is an open source software that enables secure and anonymous whistleblowing . It was developed by the Hermes Center for Transparency and Digital Human Rights, an Italian non-governmental organization that supports freedom of speech on the internet.

The software enables everyone, including those not with a technical affinity, to set up and maintain a whistleblower platform effortlessly.

business

A GlobaLeaks website uses hidden services on the Tor network to guarantee the anonymity of the source's identity and Tor2web to maintain public web availability.

As soon as the submission is carried out on a GlobaLeaks platform, the data is encrypted with OpenPGP and the system automatically notifies registered recipients (e.g. local media, NGOs or even individual journalists).

GlobaLeaks platforms do not store anything permanently and the submitted information and files are deleted as soon as possible due to a strict retention policy.

Implementations

By 2017 GlobaLeaks had been internationalized in 20+ languages and implemented by over 60 projects and initiatives around the world. The wide range of users includes independent media outlets, activists, media agencies, corporations and many more.

The Hermes Center maintains an official directory of GlobaLeaks-based projects, which can be found on the GlobaLeaks website.
