The Glomar Challenger Basin is a north-south facing lake basin on the central-north edge of the Ross Ice Shelf in the Antarctic Ross Sea .

The namesake of the name recognized by the Advisory Committee for Undersea Features (ACUF) in June 1988 is the American research vessel Glomar Challenger .
