Double Gloucester

Double Gloucester [ ˈdʌbl̩ ˈglɒstə ] ( listen ? / I ) is an aromatic, buttery, soft cheese that is mixed with annatto , a natural coloring agent, to give it an orange color. Audio file / audio sample

The cheese is produced in the form of large, flat, round cheese loaves from which smaller ones are cut out for sale. The Traditional Double Gloucester is sold after six to nine months of maturity.
Alternatively, the cheese is matured in towels that give it a rustic taste.

For the production of Gloucester cheese, the milk from the Gloucester cows is mainly used.
