Goby Lake

Goby Lake is a brackish lake in the island state of Palau on the Ngermeuangel Peninsula of Koror Island .

geography

The body of water may have been named after gobies native to the area. The lake is located in the south of the Ngermeuangel Peninsula, which makes up the southern part of Koror and is itself formed by deep bays and rugged coral formations. The larger Uet Era Ngermeuangel Lake is only about six hundred meters further north .

Although the lake is connected to the sea through crevices, it is meromictic . From a water depth of 15 m there is no longer any oxygen. It reaches a depth of about 30 m.

fauna

The lake is known for its population of the Mastigias papua jellyfish .
