Gohrisch (desert)

Gohrisch was a place north of Zeithain .

The desert lies in the Gohrischheide on the old Mühlberger Straße between Lichtensee and Mühlberg. The Teufelsgraben, an old fortification that leads from Koselitz to Fichtenberg, runs around Gohrisch. The desert belongs to the municipality of Zeithain. In 1834 the place was a Gutsweiler with manor block corridor and lay on a 19 hectare area. The place was surrounded by forest.

Gohrisch was mentioned for the first time in 1494. In 1501 there was a farm with a sheep farm and was under the Strehla lordship. The partly row-like group of houses belonged to the Grossenhain office in 1791 . The basic rule exercised in 1702, the manor Tiefenau out. In 1707 Gohrisch was parish to Lichtensee, from 1752 to Fichtenberg . In 1840 Gohrisch consists of the forester's house, the Vorwerk and two other houses. The children were sent to school in Lichtensee. The chief forester of the forest enterprise had his official seat in Gohrisch. In 1856 the place belonged to the Grossenhain court office. In 1834 Gohrisch was an independent municipality with 38 inhabitants.

In the course of the expansion of the Zeithain military training area , the village of Gohrisch was bought in 1892. The residents were compensated and relocated to Lichtensee . The forestry office was moved to Heidehäuser . From 1895 the place served as a target for artillery. After 1945 there were plans to repopulate the place with new farmers. But this was not realized because the military training area was still used.
