Golden Boy Statue

The Golden Boy of Pye Corner is the gold-colored statue of a boy that commemorates the end of the Great Fire in London in 1666 .

The fire had broken out in Pudding Lane and had raged for three days. 13,000 houses had been destroyed as a result, and the fire could only be extinguished at the point where the statue later found its place - on the corner of Giltspure Street and Cock Lane in Smithfield . The Golden Boy was originally built into the front of a building called The Fortune of War . This house was demolished in 1910 and the Golden Boy was attached to the next building at the level of the first floor.
