Golden Division
The Golden Division was a special unit within the Republican Guard under Saddam Hussein's regime . It emerged from the union of the units of the palace protection , a protection force for the government buildings and some selected and specially qualified troops of the Iraqi army . It was considered a particularly loyal unit, its loyalty was mainly secured by lavish material "donations", it was responsible for the brutal suppression of uprisings.
