Goroeisen

Goro [ guru ], also Gudråd is a Norwegian pastries at Christmas time ( Yule ). It is prepared with a special waffle iron , the goro iron . The dough consists of eggs, sugar, cream, butter and flour, lemon peel and cardamom are also often added. The pastries are square and flat, with a pattern on the surface thanks to the special waffle iron. The name Goro is an abbreviation of the original name "gode raad".

Goro belongs to the category of Christmas cookies baked in waffle irons. This is the type of Christmas biscuit that has existed in Norway for the longest time, as iron was already widespread in households before the ovens. Goro is part of the so-called "sju slagene", the seven types of pastry that are traditionally served at Christmas.
