Christian Gotthilf Kurth (* 1805 ) was the first stocking manufacturer in Auerbach in the Ore Mountains and the very first local manufacturer.

Life

The stocking knitting master Kurth founded his company in 1834 and thus established the important tradition of industrial stocking knitting in Auerbach.

In 1871 the first stocking length machine, the so-called Paget machine (first "iron" stocking knitting machine ), was put into operation in the company, which replaced the previous manual rolling chairs . As early as the 1880s, however, the hand-operated page machines were replaced by steam-operated cotton machines .
