Start-up competition - multimedia

The start -up competition - multimedia was an ideas competition held by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research from 1997 to 2001 and was later moved to the Federal Ministry of Economics . The aim was to identify promising technology-oriented start-ups in the multimedia segment and to promote and support the step into the start-up. The start-up competition - multimedia was one of the oldest start-up competitions in Germany and was characterized by above-average start-up rates.

The competition

Between 1997 and 2001, a round of competition was held each year in which up to 100 ideas were awarded, including up to 20 ideas with a main prize of 20,000 DM plus 40,000 DM after the establishment and a further 80 ideas with prizes of 10,000 DM. Between 1997 and 2001, 409 start-up ideas were awarded, 88 of them with a main prize and 321 with a prize.

Participation requirements

Participation was open to all natural persons residing in Germany who wanted to set up a multimedia company in Germany or who had founded a company no more than four months before the first submission.
