Green rooster

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Green Gockel is an environmental management system of the Evangelical Church in Württemberg . Church parishes can be certified that they systematically, comprehensibly and continuously contribute to relieving the burden on the environment through their actions and that they make this action public.

Other regional churches also participate in the project, e. B. the Evangelical Church in Baden , the Evangelical Church of the Palatinate and dioceses of the Catholic Church in Germany.

Basics

On November 22, 1999, the 12th regional synod passed a resolution to carry out an environmental audit in the Protestant parishes in Württemberg. The Green Gockel is based on Regulation (EC) No. 761/2001 of March 19, 2001 on the voluntary participation of organizations in a community system for environmental management and environmental auditing ( EMAS ), but is tailored to the framework conditions and the structure of a church community . In contrast to EMAS, the environmental auditing of the Green Gockel is not carried out by accredited experts, but by church environmental auditors. However, the scope of the examination is identical.

procedure

A parish that has decided to take part in the Green Gockel is accompanied by church environmental auditors in the first year.

At the beginning of environmental guidelines are developed by the church council are decided. The consumption data for electricity, water, thermal energy and waste are continuously collected and evaluated. In the environmental program, measurable goals and measures are formulated, e.g. B. the saving of thermal energy and further improvement measures. After a church environmental auditor has checked the documents and checked the implementation of the measures on site, the certificate is presented. A new validation takes place every four years.

Green book

The Green Book is a guide that leads the parishes to the certificate Der Grüne Gockel . It is made available and maintained by KATE eV, the Evangelical rural youth organization Württemberg and the Evangelical Upper Church Council. For recording consumption (energy, water, paper, etc.), the regional church provides a convenient online recording portal "ZDF".
