History and description
The tomb of the composer Friedrich von Flotow is one of the largest and most beautiful tombs in the Old Cemetery. The work of the sculptor Benedict Königs from 1884 symbolizes the door from life to death. A veiled marble figure steps into the afterlife . At the grave complex includes an enclosure made of wrought iron . Birds sit on all four corner posts of the enclosure ; they symbolize the world of singers at Flotov's grave.
